Agriculture is the backbone of Bhumihin Krishak Bandhu West Bengal’s economy, with a large workforce dependent on farming-related activities. A significant portion of this workforce consists of landless agricultural labourers who work as wage earners and do not own cultivable land.

To provide income security and livelihood support, the State Government announced a new scheme in the Budget 2026–27 to give annual financial assistance of ₹4,000 to eligible landless agricultural labourers.

Bhumihin Yojana Eligibility Criteria

An applicant must:

✅ Be a resident of West Bengal
✅ Be a landless agricultural labourer
Not own any cultivable agricultural land
Not be a sharecropper (Bargadar)
Not be covered under Krishak Bandhu (Natun)
✅ Be completely dependent on agricultural & allied activities as a wage earner

❌ Joint bank account holders are not eligible
❌ Bank account must be within West Bengal

Bhumihin registration

  • Enrollment will be done only through Camp Mode
  • Camps are organized by the Assistant Director of Agriculture (ADA) at the block level
  • Each approved beneficiary will receive a Scheme Card

Step-by-Step Bhumihin registration

  1. Visit the Camp organized by the Block ADA with all documents (original + photocopy)
  2. Fill the Bhumihin application form (English & Bengali)
  3. Documents are verified and digitized by block-level staff
  4. Application is uploaded to the Agriculture Department Portal
  5. Field & declaration verification is conducted
  6. Approved applications are sent for:
  • District validation (DDA – Admin)
  • Bank account validation via NPCI
  1. Acknowledgement ID is issued to the applicant
  2. After successful validation, a Scheme ID is generated

Important Notes for Applicants

⚠️ Only one application per person is allowed
⚠️ False information may lead to cancellation and recovery of funds
⚠️ Bank account must be active and in West Bengal
⚠️ Scheme is only for landless labourers, not farmers or sharecroppers
